Accessibility

Bill explanations should not create a new reading barrier.

ExpenseReader is designed for keyboard, screen-reader, mobile, zoom, contrast, and reduced-motion use. Accessibility is an ongoing commitment, and feedback is welcome.

Current design practices

  • Semantic headings, landmarks, tables, labels, and buttons.
  • A keyboard-visible skip link and visible focus indicators.
  • Status messages exposed through accessible live regions.
  • Responsive document layouts that become one column on mobile.
  • Text labels in addition to color for findings and state.
  • Reduced-motion behavior that removes nonessential animation.

Ongoing accessibility

Automated checks and component tests are useful but do not replace manual keyboard, screen-reader, zoom, contrast, and mobile review. ExpenseReader uses WCAG 2.2 AA as a design target but does not claim third-party certification. Different assistive technologies may behave differently, so reports of barriers help improve the service.
